Description

In the Flow of Watercolor: My Artistic Journey is more than a book about painting—it is a story of passion, perseverance, and finding one’s true voice through art.

In Part I, artist Mukesh Singh Bisht shares his deeply personal journey, from early childhood sketches in the mountains of Uttarakhand to international recognition as a watercolorist. Readers will travel with him through moments of struggle, inspiration, and triumph—discovering how faith, nature, and determination shaped his artistic path. From the story of his most memorable work on Kedarnath to the lessons learned through challenges, Mukesh’s reflections are both heartfelt and motivating.

In Part II, the book transforms into a practical guide for watercolor learners. Covering everything from essential tools and brush techniques to washes, textures, florals, animals, and landscapes, it provides clear, accessible lessons designed for beginners yet valuable for experienced artists seeking fresh inspiration. With a balance of technical instruction and creative encouragement, readers are guided toward building confidence, practicing consistently, and developing their own unique style.

I recently made the decision to buy Mukesh’s book after becoming inspired by his demonstrations on Facebook. It has quickly become my favourite art book, and I am so glad I chose to purchase it. The book is of high quality, with 88 glossy, colourful pages showcasing an array of Mukesh’s wonderful paintings.

In the book, Mukesh shares his personal journey of how he became so deeply connected to art, and how he has been influenced and shaped along the way. He expresses both his passion and his humble nature, making it a very enjoyable and inspiring read. Mukesh also offers really useful tips and guidance for artists and aspiring artists alike; I have learnt a great deal from reading it.

What stands out most is his encouraging and down-to-earth teaching style, which helps me maintain the approach of viewing painting as something fun, creative, and experimental rather than something to feel pressured by. His positivity really builds confidence and makes you want to pick up a brush and keep going.

Overall, this is a beautifully presented and genuinely inspiring art book. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys painting, whether they are a beginner or more experienced, as it offers both motivation and practical insight in equal measure.
